Do's of Tutoring
- Be specific about what you need help with, so that the tutor can address the task.
- Attempt your homework before tutoring. Don't expect to do all your homework in TLC with a tutor.
- Be on time for scheduled appointments.
- If tutoring does not seem to be helping, seek the assistance of your instructor. Remember the instructor is your primary educator.
- Take responsibility for your own learning. There is no "quick fix." It's your responsibility to learn the material and this may take time and effort on your part. The tutor is here to assist you in becoming an independent learner.
- Bring all neccessary materials to your tutoring session to maximize productivity (e.g., calculator, notes, pen or pencil ,etc).
- Remember to review the class material before your tutoring session.
- Be proactive. Don't wait until the last minute to seek help.
